In Dhahban, within Khamis Mushait Governorate and just 35 kilometers from Abha, the Al Mushait Palaces, once known as "Musharraf Palace," stand as historic landmarks. These palaces are among the oldest in Aseer, marking the region's initial allegiance to King Abdulaziz. They served as the venue for hosting royalty and notable delegations, and also accommodated the area's first judge appointed during the King's reign.
Built from local clay and sand, the palaces are distinguished by their white plaster facades featuring pronounced reliefs based on wooden panels, with windows that decrease in number towards the top. Internally, the palace was organized with ground floors for servants, upper floors for guests, and other areas for personal use or storage. It also included stables, pens, a well, and a mosque, forming a self-sufficient village.
Restored to honor their historical and symbolic importance in Aseer's history, these palaces now welcome international tourists. Visitors can delve into historical narratives, participate in cultural and artistic festivals, and enjoy folk dances, particularly during holiday seasons and summer months, enriching their travel experience in Aseer.
